“Currents”

2024
I began creating this work a year ago as a way to connect to a personal understanding of water. I began a regimen of sitting in front of a body of water and drawing it for consecutive days. This began on the undeveloped beach sides of Shinnecock Nation and continued on the banks of Arroyos and Acequias of Albuquerque. This practice was an attempt to learn the language of water, our attempts to control it, and our need as a whole to submit to it if we are ever truly going to protect it
As part of solo exhibition, CURRENTS, that studied water and its systems. This work debuted November 2024 at Nancy Fyfe Cardozer Gallery at University of Texas Permian Basin.
