Landmarks for Finding Origins and New Beginnings

The images of these billboards are site specific paintings on unsanctioned walls. Each location holds a relationship to my upbringing and the landscapes that have shaped me in my life. Located on the Navajo Nation, Mora County and in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Each site was chosen and painted in one day, each with no predetermination … these works mark landscapes that are of great importance to my life, but also acknowledging the undefined space in between. All moments contributing to the spectrum of my journey.

Photos were taken of each bird at their original site and installed at SITE Santa Fe in 2022 for Chacon’s show, SPECTRUM
