Migration

Izhevsk, Russia

2015

The concept of "Migration" centers around this scarf, and its migration through indigenous cultures. The scarf depicted in the mural is worn by Udmurt women of this area, the same scarf is worn by Navajo women and indigenous women throughout the Americas. For me, this was a reflection on how beauty and aesthetics can transcend borders of land, language, and culture. That something so simple can unite people from opposite sides of the world and engage in visual dialogue.
